Rooted in Innovation
Our growth didn’t happen overnight. It all began in 1946 when Ezra, Ike, and Al Mishan partnered up to open a small storefront in the bustling heart of midtown Manhattan. Our initial offerings included linens, tablecloths, and various home products. This entrepreneurial spirit laid the foundation for what lay ahead, and it wasn’t long before we began to expand our horizons.
Over time, we recognized the need for innovative products that were not yet available to American consumers. We pivoted from a retail business to a wholesale one, transitioning into a distributor that imported directly from overseas and sold to other small retail businesses. Eventually, this led to us manufacturing innovative products and creating new solutions to meet customer needs and wants.
This approach opened the door for a new direction in marketing. We started with a direct-to-consumer model by creating and selling through mail-order catalogs. As the 1980s arrived, we leveraged new partnerships and began selling to major retailers such as Macy’s, Bradshaw’s, and Alexander’s. We also started selling through television infomercials (As Seen on TV) and featured well-known products like Bacon Wave, Wonder Steamer and Pull-Up Exerciser.
Today our business remains firmly rooted in the values of our grandparents and great-grandparents. We take pride in remaining a family-owned and operated organization.
